Hardware Technology for Universal Quantum Computing
Development of key components and circuit modules for quantum technology

The Ministry of Economic Affairs has supported the Industrial Technology Research Institute to execute the project, aiming for the localization of key components in quantum hardware. The goal is to assist domestic industries in gaining an early foothold in the market for quantum computer components, such as cryogenic control circuits and modules. It is intended to support the development of quantum technology-related products by domestic businesses.

The project, in its second year (2023), has successfully completed a cryogenic control circuit and module for one qubit and has successfully interfaced it with a qubit, it was first case in domestic. Moving forward, the plan is to build upon this foundation and tackle the challenge of developing cryogenic control circuits and modules for multiple qubits.

Technical Highlights
Low temperature, Cryo-CMOS control chip/module
  • Solution:
The rapid development of quantum computers necessitates more instruments to get signals, leading to the development of control chips and modules that operate at low temperatures, specifically at 4K (-269°C). These modules are designed to save space, shorten the signal transmission path in quantum computers, and reduce noise interference.
  • Important:
In the second year (2023) of the project (2022-2025), a cryogenic control chip and module for one qubit were successfully connected for the first time
  • Future:
Building on the achievements of 2023, we will continue to develop multi-bit cryogenic control chips and modules. In the future, we hope to collaborate with domestic companies to contribute to the development of quantum technology products.
